CCS Martial Arts Curriculum Overview

At CCS Martial Arts, our Jeet Kune Do (JKD) curriculum provides a well-rounded, comprehensive training program designed to equip students with the skills necessary for real-world self-defense. By integrating multiple martial arts systems, our approach effectively cross-trains four main phases of empty-hand combat based upon Bruce Lee's methods:

  • JKD Range (Brim of Fire): Using distance to prevent opponents strikes.

  • Kickboxing: Utilizing effective punching and kicking techniques.

  • Shutdown Phase (Trapping & Clinching): Mastering stand-up grappling, joint manipulation, and clinch control.

  • Grappling (Ground Fighting): Developing ground control, submission tactics, and escape techniques.

Core Combat Reality Priorities

We emphasize four primary areas to prepare our students for real-world confrontations, that we factor into total combat we call Filthy MMA:

  1. Weapons – Addressing offensive and defensive utilization of various weapons, drawing from Kali-Silat, Krav Maga, Fencing, JKD, and Jiu-Jitsu for defense against armed opponents.

  2. Kickboxing – Integrating striking techniques from Jun Fan JKD, Panantukan Dirty Boxing, Savate, and Muay Thai.

  3. Grappling – Incorporating ground-fighting skills from Combat JuJitsu, Catch Wrestling, KinaMutai, BJJ, and other grappling arts.

  4. Mass Attack – Strategies for defending against multiple attackers.

The Phase Method Approach

CCS utilizes the Phase Method, a variation of Dan Inosantos' Phase Method and Progressive Fighting Systems' approach, to facilitate personalized JKD development. Our curriculum follows the Phase Method, emphasizing adaptability and self-expression through martial arts. This method, along with "Combat Flow" training, helps students adapt to realistic self-defense scenarios against multiple opponents and weapons. The program follows a structured rank progression, starting with basic levels and advancing to expert and instructor levels. We integrate elements from various disciplines, ensuring a practical, effective training experience. The primary components include:
