To truly master tactical shooting, incorporating dynamic drills into your training regimen is essential. These drills, designed within the framework of Jeet Kune Do principles, focus on various scenarios, stressors, and positions to enhance your ability to defend yourself effectively.

1. Shooting Position Sequence:

  • Execute a sequence of shooting positions:

  • Standing Isosceles

  • Step forward to one knee

  • Move back to sitting

  • Lay on back

  • Re-position to the side

  • Re-position to the other side

  • Re-position to back, sit up to one knee

  • Move back

2. Stress Fire (Striking):

  • Engage from 3ft, 6ft, and 10ft after punching a pad for 30 seconds at each distance.

  • The emphasis is on a quick response (5 seconds or less to shoot).

3. Stress Fire (Absorbing):

  • Hold the gun in a two-hand retention position while being bumped by a pad.

  • Engage the threat at a specified distance on cue.

4. Close Contact Shooting (Single Arm Retention):

  • Hold the gun in a single-arm retention position while being bumped by a pad.

  • Engage the threat at close contact on cue.

5. Sprint in Single Hand Retention:

  • Engage the threat at 10ft while sprinting in a single-hand retention position.

6. Move Through a Crowd (Single Arm Retention):

  • Safely navigate through a crowd to reach the threat and engage at 10ft.

7. Multiple Threats:

  • Practice engaging and neutralizing multiple targets efficiently.

8. Threat and No Threat:

  • Turn away from the target, then on cue, turn and engage only the threat targets.

9. Move Off the X:

  • Laterally move right or left while shooting to avoid a direct line of attack.

10. "Slicing the Pie":

  • Engage a threat around a corner using controlled and calculated movements.

11. Shoot from Cover:

  • Engage a threat from behind cover, emphasizing protection while returning fire.

12. VIP Protection (2 Guards):

  • One guard jumps in front to engage the threat, while the other escorts the principal away.

13. VIP Protection (1 Guard):

  • The guard sweeps the arm in front of the principle to move them behind and engages the threat.

These tactical shooting drills not only enhance marksmanship skills but also simulate realistic self-defense scenarios. They challenge practitioners to adapt to various stressors and positions, aligning with the dynamic principles of Jeet Kune Do. Regular incorporation of these drills into your training routine will significantly elevate your ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations.
