In the realm of self-defense, the philosophy at our training center is clear and unwavering: we train first and foremost for street self-defense. This principle is the cornerstone of our approach, shaping every aspect of our training methodology. At the core of our philosophy lies the belief that effective street self-defense should be the primary focus, with adjustments made for those who wish to venture into sporting competitions.

Authenticity is the essence of our training. A real-world attacker exerts 100% resistance, and to learn how to fight, one must practice against someone fighting back. Progressive resistance is the key to providing everyone, regardless of experience, the opportunity to engage in safe and enjoyable training. This method ensures that our students develop practical skills in a controlled and dynamic environment.

Our training goes beyond the confines of traditional martial arts. We aim to mold complete self-defense athletes, preparing them for a spectrum of situations. From standing to ground, from single to multiple opponents, and from empty hands to weaponry—our students undergo training that mirrors the unpredictability of real-life scenarios. The goal is for each student to gain experience in various self-defense situations, ensuring readiness for any potential threat.

Training for self-defense is a lifelong commitment, and we believe it should be enjoyable. While hard work is integral to skill development, training sessions should not be a relentless grind. We endeavor to make every class a source of enjoyment, creating an environment where students eagerly anticipate each session.

Our Jeet Kune Do classes are meticulously structured to cover all essential ranges and aspects of self-defense. In a two-hour session, students engage in practical techniques, drills, and sparring across various ranges:

  • Projectile Range

  • Long Weapon Range (Blunt Impact Weapon)

  • Short Weapon Range (Edged Weapon)

  • Kick-boxing Range

  • Boxing Range

  • Trapping Range

  • Standing Grappling Range

  • Ground Grappling Range

The overarching goal is to develop adaptability, allowing students to seamlessly transition between different ranges and environments.

In each class, we delve into functional reality-based self-defense against impact weapons, edged weapons, and empty hands. Sensitivity drills, progressive resistance, and "aliveness" drills are incorporated to ensure a practical and effective training experience. The class culminates in gun-defense scenarios, emphasizing stress inoculation, situational awareness, and preparing for multiple opponent scenarios.

Our classes include a variety of drills designed to enhance different aspects of self-defense:

  • Defensive Tactics: Methods used to deflect, destroy, intercept, and evade attacks.

  • Self-Defense: Techniques initiated from a position of disadvantage.

  • Combatives: Ballistic attacks to neutralize threats.

  • Awareness-Aliveness Drills: Develop fluid reflexes and responsive adaptability.

  • Burn Out Drill (Stress Drill): Acclimates to the sudden shock of being attacked.

  • Fatigue Drill: Simulates energy depletion in an actual confrontation.

A typical class is structured to cover essential elements, ensuring a comprehensive and balanced training experience:

  • Warm-Up and High-Intensity Interval Training

  • Defensive Tactics and Reaction Drills

  • Self-Defense and Burn Out Drill

  • Combinations and Combatives Training

  • Fatigue Drill

  • Tactical Discussion and Mindful Breath Control

  • Post-Class Bonus: Soft Techniques, Control Tactics, Grappling, or Weapons

Our training philosophy revolves around the art of adaptation and preparedness. Through meticulous class structures, diverse drills, and a commitment to progressive resistance, we aim to equip our students not only with effective self-defense skills but also with the ability to adapt to any situation. As we say, "Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast," emphasizing the importance of technique, fluidity, and a lifelong commitment to learning. Remember, we train to teach, and we teach to train, fostering a community dedicated to mastering the art of self-defense.
